RiP! A Remix Manifesto
Really really really interesting full length film/documentary (1hr 30mins)...dealing with mash-ups, remixes, and Copyright Law in general. Features Girl Talk. Very well done and and definitely raises some interesting topics regarding Copyright Law (I realize that sounds boring, but trust me, this is a good watch). Not saying I agree with all of it, because something has to be done for the artist and the time, effort, and creativity spent by them...but anyway...highly recommend this film!

Kanye West – I’m So Appalled
Nice lil flow from Kanye...
Making it’s first debut on Killer Mike’s Follow The Leaders mixtape, this latest record from Kanye is now refined without a DJ voiceover. A lot being said through the lyrics if you listen close, no autotune just straight lyricism. It’s also set to make a tentative feature on Diddy’s upcoming album Last Train to Paris. Check it out.- From Hypebeast

Mr. Hudson Double-Double
In honor of his cd release...which is actually apparently only available in Europe (you would think with technology being what it is, that it woulda been released worldwide....but I guess there might be a lets build the cd up locally first and just focus on that, then try to use money made there to promote abroad and ride that wave into the US market approach..but who knows.) BUT ANYYWAYS....here are two tracks from the album that I like.

Shepard Fairey x Michael Jordan Poster
From Hypebeast,
To celebrate Michael Jordan’s official induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, iconic graffiti artist and founder of the Obey brand Shepard Fairey has created a poster of Jordan dunking. Fairey is to produce a series of similar posters, revisiting the best moments of Jordan’s career, which should make for a dazzling commemoration of arguably the greatest baller ever.

'Bad Boys 3' in the works
'Bad Boys 3' in the works
Peter Craig will write the screenplay
By Borys Kit
Aug 30, 2009
Columbia Pictures is developing a third installment of the high-octane "Bad Boys" franchise, tapping Peter Craig to pen the screenplay.
The hope is to have a script that would reunite director Michael Bay, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. At this point, with the project in the early stages, none has a deal to return.
The "Boys" movies feature Smith and Lawrence as Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, caught up in cases involving car chases and explosions.
The first "Boys," released in 1995, helped launch Bay as a director and Smith as an action star even though it was not a fire-stamped blockbuster -- it grossed $66 million domestically and $141 million worldwide.
The sequel, released in 2003 when Bay and Smith's stars had risen, grossed $138 million domestically and $273 million worldwide.
All parties have expressed a willingness to return if a story can be hammered out. One potential hurdle, however, would be the costly deals with the players.
Craig, repped by CAA and Management 360, co-wrote "The Town," which Ben Affleck is directing for Warner Bros. and which shoots in Boston next month. He is adapting anime "Cowboy Bebop" for 20th Century Fox and Keanu Reeves.

"They had elections today in Iran. Apparently it's still too close to call. They say if the vote is still close by tomorrow, there will be a runoff election next week, and then the usual series of lawsuits from Norm Coleman."

"Mahmud Ahmahaheeha defeated challenger and reform candidate Mir-Hussein Mousavi 62 percent to 33 percent---a landslide victory. Surprising, since the 85 percent turnout typically favors the reform candidates...and election results were strangely announced before the polls closed...and Ahmadineduhjujah won handily even in his opponents' home town...and also he's batshit insane!"

"Massive protests continued today in Iran. Hundreds of thousands of people swarmed the streets to protest what they believe was election fraud in the re-election of President Mahmud Amembersonlyjacket. And even though our president has been very careful not to weigh in too heavily on the controversy, the government of Iran today accused the United States of 'intolerable meddling' in its internal affairs. Sounds to me like Iran has been watching too much Scooby-Doo."

"In recent days Iran has fallen into complete chaos over the Iranian presidential election, which pitted the incumbent president against the reformer, Mir-Hussein-in-the-Membrane Mousavi. You can tell he's the reformer for two reasons. One, he chants 'Terminal illness to America,' and he only wants to wipe Israel off Google Earth."

Who Wants to go to Cuba?!
From CNN:
WASHINGTON (CNN) – President Obama is getting ready to visit to the Summit of the Americas next week amid rising reports the administration is planning to announce new rules on family travel and remittances to Cuba. Do Americans back a plan to relax some of the current restrictions on that island nation?
A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Friday suggests the answer is yes. Nearly two thirds think the United States should lift its ban on travel by U.S. citizens to Cuba. And seven in ten think it's time to re-establish diplomatic relations with that country.
" Republicans as well as Democrats favor re-establishing diplomatic relations with Cuba," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "On the issue of lifting travel restrictions, Republicans are evenly divided, while Independents and Democrats support the change."
The CNN/ORC telephone poll of 1,023 Americans was conducted April 3-5 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
Kanye's Response to him being a Gay Fish
Hahaha...caught this on Southpark the other night...was wondering if Kayne would say anything...here it goes:
SOUTH PARK MURDERED ME LAST NIGHT AND IT'S PRETTY FUNNY. IT HURTS MY FEELINGS BUT WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM SOUTH PARK! I ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY EGO THOUGH. HAVING THE CRAZY EGO IS PLAYED OUT AT THIS POINT IN MY LIFE AND CAREER. I USE TO USE IT TO BUILD UP MY ESTEEM WHEN NOBODY BELIEVED IN ME. NOW THAT PEOPLE DO BELIEVE AND SUPPORT MY MUSIC AND PRODUCTS THE BEST RESPONSE IS THANK YOU INSTEAD OF "I TOLD YOU SO!!!" IT'S COOL TO TALK SHIT WHEN YOU'RE RAPPING BUT NOT IN REAL LIFE. WHEN YOU MEET LITTLE WAYNE IN PERSON HE'S THE NICEST GUY FOR EXAMPLE. I JUST WANNA BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM. I NEED TO JUST GET PAST MYSELF. DROP THE BRAVADO AND JUST MAKE DOPE PRODUCT. EVERYTHING IS NOT THAT SERIOUS. AS LONG AS PEOPLE THINK I ACT LIKE A BITCH THIS TYPE OF SHIT WILL HAPPEN TO ME. I GOT A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF ME TO MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE I'M NOT ACTUALLY A HUGE DOUCHE BUT I'M UP FOR THE CHALLENGE. I'M SURE THE WRITERS AT SOUTH PARK ARE REALLY NICE PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE. THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DRAW MY CREW. THAT WAS PRETTY FUNNY ALSO!! I'M SURE THERE'S GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN THIS... THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW IT'S ME!

Village Mob Thwarts Google Maps
Angry villagers formed a human chain to thwart the progress of a Google Street View car that was in the process of taking photographs of their homes.
Police were called to Broughton in Buckinghamshire yesterday, after furious villagers blocked one of the cars, complaining it was an invasion of their privacy and that the photographs would attract burglaries.
Paul Jacobs, a local resident, spotted the car yesterday morning, thanks to the distinctive 360-degree camera attached to its roof. He told the driver not to enter the village, then roused fellow residents by knocking on their doors. The driver eventually did a U-turn and left the scene.
Google Street View, a controversial mapping service that launched in the UK last month, gives 360-degree views of Britain’s biggest cities, allowing people to take virtual tours from their computers or mobile phones.
Google's camera-equipped cars are now back on the road, aiming to update the service to cover as much of Britain as possible. The cars have been spotted recently in towns such as Winchester, Chelmsford and Ipswich.
In the past six weeks there have been three break-ins in Broughton, near Milton Keynes, and residents fears that the digital photographs of their roads would be used as a tool in further burglaries.
Google says the car was on a public road and therefore not breaking the law. The company said it would remove any images that members of the public object to.
Mr Jacobs said, “I was upstairs when I spotted the camera car driving down the lane.
“My immediate reaction was anger; how dare anyone take a photograph of my home without my consent? I ran outside to flag the car down and told the driver he was not only invading our privacy but also facilitating crime This is an affluent area. We’ve already had three burglaries locally in the past six weeks. If our houses are plastered all over Google it’s an invitation for more criminals to strike. I was determined to make a stand, so I called the police.”
A spokeswoman for Thames Valley Police confirmed, “A squad car was sent to Broughton at 10.20am on Wednesday to reports of a dispute between a crowd of people and a Google Street View contractor. A member of the public had called us to report that he, along with a number of others, were standing in the middle of the road preventing the car from moving forwards and taking photographs. They felt his presence was an intrusion of their privacy. When police arrived at the scene, the car had moved on.”
A spokesman for Google said, "Embarking on new projects, we sometimes encounter unexpected challenges, and Street View has been no exception. We know that some people are uncomfortable with images of their houses or cars being included in the product, which is why we provide an easy way to request removal of imagery. Most imagery requests are processed within hours."

Follow Me.....
Sorry for the recent lack of updates....been enjoying a week of Spring Break freedom (is it bad that its easier for me to surf the net and update this when I have class and work to do?)...and I've also been experimenting with Twitter.
You can follow me at: http://twitter.com/j83out
It's kinda funny, the whole update on your every movement/limited character status type updates. A lot of people write it off as trivial (probably is) or an illegitimate source of media/entertainment/journalism whatever you want to call it. All of this can be said to be true. Another thing is the reality aspect...like with "reality" tv shows...if you know the camera is on you....how real are you really being? If you're taking a second to stop and tweet every few minutes...isn't that disrupting what you are actually supposed to be doing? Should we then be tweeting and twittering? I'm soo confused. That being said, it can be interesting, and a lot of the same things were said about facebook and myspace. When they first were getting popular, older generations and skeptics scoffed at the openness and lack of privacy...writing the new medium off as a youthful fad. Now, for better or worse, EVERYONE has a facebook and/or myspace page (including me, your mom, celebs, politicians, and everyone in between)...and the two sites are leaders in the networking/marketing/promotional/music/etc/etc/etc businesses. Sure maybe these formats are leading to a decline in journalistic integrity and general quality literature....but you have to enjoy it for what it is, instead of trying to compare it. Will true writers give up on books to tweet? I would hope not. But it is a source of greater information (relevant or not), and is simply the future (like it or not)...so you might as well get on board. Dunno how much sense I just made...went to bed at 5 and was up at 9 to watch the Tourney....Madness has set in...enjoy.

Here's a review of the song:
Oh ya, and one of my boyz from Orville Wright is a member of the aforementioned Ys who created this track. Dude is doing BIG things and I'm really happy for him! If you get a chance....take a peak into the mind of a creative genius and follow him! Ill prolly do a separate post on him soon too.
Here's a review of the song:
Since the lead single was a smoldering slow jam, listeners likely expect a follow-up that will set fire to dance floors nationwide, and on that count Love Sex Magic doesn’t disappoint...Backed by The Y’s’ midtempo electro-funk production, Love Sex Magic is sure to set sparks flying when it hits the clubs, paving the way for Fantasy Ride‘s arrival in stores this April.

Introducing Kogi - Twitter for Dinner?
I learned about Kogi a week or two ago. The basic concept is that Kogi is a Korean BBQ taco truck that has gained massive popularity in LA for tasty food at very low prices....I think like $2 a taco. But what's really got this taco truck goin is that it posts its locations on twitter. It now has almost 8,000 followers. They have also opened up an actual location in Culver City...I'll have to check it out soon.
Here's the KOGI Twitter
"In many ways, Kogi's rapid rise reflects the same cultural moment that produced Barack Obama; youthful, urban, multiethnic, wired and communal, both brands resonate with a grassroots generation that distrusts top-down messaging and prefers to learn from peers, often online. The question now is whether L.A.'s Twitter-fueled Korean taco truck is merely a fad (more like, say, Howard Dean)—or, as the Kogi copycats are hoping, a model for the future of fast food." -

K'Naan - Troubador
When I first heard the single If Rap Gets Jealous it definitely caught my attention, but I wasn't sure if I liked it. I had to listen to it a few times, and it grew on me. After checking out a few other tracks and hearing good things about this cd, I decided to buy it. And I'm really glad I did, because it has been excellent! Dope funky beats with an African infuence mixed with a different sounding yet smooth flow, and each song has a very different flavor.

I was gonna talk about some of the tracks I like (Waivin' Flag, Take a Minute, Somalia, People Like Me, Bang Bang feat. Maroon 5's Adam Levine, America feat. Mos Def and Charli 2na, Dreamer, etc. etc. etc.), but to be honest I would have to touch on all of them since they are all pretty unique, and I'm far too lazy to do that, so just trust me and buy the album for yourself. Plus it was 16 tracks + video for only $7.99 on iTunes today...quite the deal.

NFL in LA?
You've heard this many times before, but at least we had a step in the right direction towards getting the NFL back in Los Angeles.

In a 5-0 vote, the city accepted an environmental plan for an $800million professional football stadium proposed by Majestic Realty President and billionaire Ed Roski, Jr.
The privately funded stadium will be near the intersection of the 57 and 60 freeways and has so far received strong regional support. But there has also been opposition from Diamond Bar and Walnut, whose residents are concerned about traffic, noise and pollution impacts.
Officials can start negotiating with football teams as early as next month, said Majestic Realty Vice President John Semcken. But Semcken acknowledged that lawsuit threats posed by Walnut and Diamond Bar could delay the project. More here
Check out the design and more info about the stadium here.

Stop. Drop, Throw Food Trays?
Guess there goes my dream of the DMX reality show coming back :(
DMX, who's currently in the midst of a 90-day stay at an Arizona prison after pleading out on theft, animal cruelty, and drug possession charges, is now facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly throwing a tray of food at a corrections officer who reprimanded him for taking food that wasn't his. DMX (real name Earl Simmons) was already in hot water at the jail for not reporting for a work assignment and not responding to a call for medications earlier this month; he'd been placed in lockdown and on a Nutraloaf-and-water diet for violating those rules. The Republic has helpfully provided a timeline of X's legal troubles since August 2007, when his house was raided by police, who found malnourished dogs, drugs, and weapons:
• The rapper was cited in May for going 114 mph on the Loop 101.
• In late June, Simmons was arrested in Miami on suspicion of attempting to purchase cocaine and marijuana from an undercover officer.
• In July, he was accused of theft of services and identity theft for trying to avoid paying $7,500 in medical bills from Scottsdale's Mayo Clinic in April.
• Also in July, Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies arrested Simmons at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court.
• In August, Simmons was arrested in Miami for failing to attend a Phoenix court hearing. He was extradited to Phoenix in September and paid a $25,000 bond for his release.
• In December, FBI agents arrested Simmons at the Florida mansion of music producer Scott Storch on a warrant out of Phoenix after the rapper again failed to appear in court.
According to MTV, DMX may have added eight years to his time in prison.

Numa Numa Next Gen
Ever wonder what would happen if the Numa Numa guy had a kid with Jonathan Lipnicki (the kid in Jerry Maguire)?? Neither did I...but I think this would be the answer :) Oh and notice he has multiple music videos lol...pretty funny.
"The fuckin zoo is closed, Ray!!"
"Ray: D'you know that the human head weighs 8 pounds?
Jerry Maguire: Did you know that Troy Aikman, in only six years, has passed for 16,303 yards?
Ray: D'you know that bees and dogs can smell fear?
Jerry Maguire: Did you know that the career record for hits is 4,256 by Pete Rose who is NOT in the Hall of Fame?
Ray: D'you know that my next door neighbor has three rabbits?
Jerry Maguire: I... I can't compete with that!"
