C.S. Lewis Quote
While I do remember enjoying reading The Chronicles of Narnia as a kid (though I haven't seen the movie version and don't really have any plan to see the new movie)...I'll be honest, I haven't read this book...so perhaps it's out of context...but I saw someone post this today and it caught my eye.
The Four Loves - C.S. Lewis, page 121
There is no safe investment. To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket — safe, dark, motionless, airless — it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. The alternative to tragedy, or at least to the risk of tragedy, is damnation. The only place outside Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love is Hell.I believe that the most lawless and inordinate loves are less contrary to God’s will than a self-invited and self-protective lovelessness…We shall draw nearer to God, not by trying to avoid the sufferings inherent in all loves, but by accepting them and offering them to Him; throwing away all defensive armour. If our hearts need to be broken, and if He chooses this as a way in which they should break, so be it. What I know about love and believe about love and giving ones heart began in this.

Shades - Diddy Dirty Money feat. Lil Wayne, Justin Timberlake, and JAMES FAUNTLEROY
Track off the upcoming Diddy Dirty Money cd, Last Train to Paris. Pretty cool track, but most importantly...my friend James, who is known for being the man behind a lot of top tracks the last few years, gets his first "featuring" on this song. You can hear him providing the smooth vocals throughout the song!! Would have wished Lil Wayne contributed a few actual bars beyond the intro...but still a nice track.

Chiefs QB Matt Cassel Undergoes Appendectomy?! AFC West Up In the Air.
Multiple sources just broke that Chiefs QB Matt Cassel just underwent an appendectomy with his return unclear!
Hmm...the AFC West plot thickens. The Cheifs (8-4) are up two games in the division over the Raiders and Chargers, but play SD this week and OAK the last week of the season. SD has by far the easiest remaining schedule with the Niners (4-8), Bungles (2-10), and coachless Broncos (3-9). They should very easily go 3-0 through these teams. By contrast, the Raiders have the toughest remaining schedule with JAX (7-5 division leading), Den (3-9), IND (6-6 but always dangerous with Manning), and finishing with KC...possibly for the division. The Chiefs face SD, then STL (6-6), TEN (5-7 and falling apart)...which is probably in the middle of SD's easy schedule and the Raider's more difficult schedule...this middle schedule will probably prove to be juuuusst right for KC given their current lead.
The schedules and current standings still strongly indicate that this is KC's division to lose....but with Cassel potentially out, the division is thrown into chaos with all 3 teams with a legitimate shot. SD has the easiest road if it can handle business against KC this week and then hopes KC drops 1 more game...but the Raiders would own the tie-breaker over both SD and KC if they can win out...though they have the most difficult mountain to climb.
My Predictions as of now:
KC - Will depend largely on Cassel and this game at SD...huge game...if KC wins this week, I say it's all a moot point and the division is theirs...game over. BUT...I think KC loses at SD, wins the next two, then **bias** loses to the Raiders. Ending up 10-6 (2-2 in the next 4 games). (In fairness I still have yet to really believe in the Chiefs, despite their ability to keep winning and proving me wrong.) Again, it's KC's division to lose, they can afford to drop a game and be fine...even if they lose 2, everyone else has to win out. They are still in the pole position.
SD - Again, if they lose this weekend...Fuhhgggeedddaboutit...but I say SD over KC, then rolls through the bottom of the NFL barrel to go 4-0 in the last four games...with that quintessential late season Rivers magic. That would put SD at 10-6...sitting fairly pretty...but maybe just not enough after getting taken down by the Raiders last week.
OAK - Oak has a tough matchup with Jacksonville this week...a crucial game for them. Then they better beat DEN the next week...then it's somewhat of a toss up in my mind with INDY...and actually I think OAK are underdogs in both the JAX and INDY games (though Berman & Plaschke picked OAK and Woody picked JAX). Though, I do have them beating KC in the final game. If OAK wins out, they would be tied with everyone at 10-6 and would own both tie breakers and be the Division champion. Raiders can still lose one if the Chiefs lose two before Week 17. Then it's for all the marbles unless SD wins out. Unfortunately, my gut has them losing at least 1 of the games between INDY and JAX..(since we're never exactly sure which Raider team will show up...the new emerging Raiders or the old over penalized Raiders) which would put them out of the running unless SD trips up in a game in the next 4 and/or KC also drops one to TEN or STL which is possible but unlikely.
So in the end, the Raiders would technically be the best team in the division...because if these predictions held true, they would sweep all 3 other AFC West teams...BUT...KC or SD would still have a better chance of winning the division due to the remaining schedules. If everything played out as I predict...OAK will fall just short record wise and KC and SD would be in a two-way tie. KC currently 2-2 in the division would lose to SD/OAK and fall to 2-4 in division. SD currently 1-3 in the division would be 3-3 and win the Division. So if everything I predict comes true, SD wins the AFC West (with KC losing their next two division games and SD going undefeated...so thats a huge IF). So in conclusion...Who knows....that's why they play the game ;)
EDIT: NFL DIVISION TIE BREAKING PROCEDURE.

Sam Adams - Some Chordz
From Idolator: Sam Adams shocked everyone earlier this year when, out of nowhere, his mostly self-produced EP landed at the top of iTunes’ hip-hop digital albums chart. The rapper’s Boston’s Boy outsold albums by Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled for the week — powered by strong word-of-mouth and his own viral Asher Roth reflip, “I Hate College”. In fact, his success was so sudden that critics tried to suggest he manufactured it. But Sam (aka Wiz) has kept the party rolling, and he recently dropped a new mixtape, Party Records.
We like his independent spirit (and his love for his mom) and we’re honored to present his show at House Of Blues on the Sunset Strip next weekend. Check below for details and grab a free MP3 of Sam’s “Some Chordz”. Can we get some extra bass, please?
http://idolator.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/04-Some-Chordz.mp3
The track (built on deadmau5’s stomper “Some Chords”) is one example of Adam’s expertise at rapping over dance tracks — Party Records also includes beats borrowed from Rusko, Bangladesh and Bassnectar, among others. But we think this one in particular belongs in your iPod.
Check out Adams on tour — and if you’re in LA, come to the show next week!

New York director and visual effects artist Sam O’Hare has created this short film documenting the 2010 Coachella Festival. Using a similar approach as used in his award winning film The Sandpit, the festival and each of its inhabitants appear as if tiny, scurrying around the site. The clip presents a unique vision of the festival which is fast becoming recognised as one of summer’s best. Enjoy!

Nike Zoom Kobe V Ink
From Hypebeast:
The Nike Zoom Kobe V has debuted in a brand new colorway dubbed “Ink”. The kick is cloaked in a reflective purple finish, with contrasting purple accents surrounding the upper. The swoosh, sole, and tongue logo have been done up in grey, with the showstopper appearing at the creased upper giving the kick a liquid feel. These are set to drop next month, priced at $130 USD.
I still prefer my Miles Davis'...but these are cool too.

Kanye West - Lost In The World
From Idolator:
http://idolator.com/5640762/kanye-west-bon-iver-lost-in-the-world#
Kanye West’s “Lost In The World”—his latest jam to surface online—is not unlike Jason Derulo’s 2009 smash “Whatcha Say” in that it samples a pensive, Auto-Tuned indie hit (in this case Bon Iver’s “Woods”) and re-purposes it into a proper rump-shaker. Oh, God—what are we saying? This is actually ten times better than “Whatcha Say”! Get lost in ‘ye’s world below

Mark Ronson - Record Collection
From Fader:
Simply put, Record Collection (out 9/28) is our favorite thing Mark Ronson has ever done, and that’s not just cause it’s packed with FADER faves like MNDR, Ghostface, Pill, Spank Rock, D’Angelo (!), Wiley and Theophilus. Like his prior producer albums, it’s glossed up with his extensive range: hip-hop, Brit pop, video game electro, international spy music, new wave, etc. But it also really shows how he’s come into his own over the past couple years, each track seamlessly threaded to the other with his adventurousness. Which is not to say his prior works were not cohesive or adventurous, but Record Collection just feels more confident and fresh. Maybe it’s about growing up, maybe it’s about getting stronger, but either way, jamming melodies. Also, this dude got D’Angelo and Boy George to come out the back shed! Cannot front on that. Tracklist after the jump.
You can stream the whole album for free and check it out: Stream: Mark Ronson, Record Collection

Sushi Pop Art Series 1 at Royal T
"Japanese cuisine is diverse with many faucets of flavors and styles. Sushi in the eyes of Master Chef Kenny Yamada is more than mere fish on top of rounded rice but tools that can be transformed into a work of art. He believes that food must not only be delicious but visually appetizing." This looks pretty awesome, if only I had found out about it a little earlier since tonight is the last night. Plus a 9 course dinner for only $60 really isn't bad. Gonna have to keep my eye on this to see when it pops up next.

James Fauntleroy - Te Amo
So I'm sure everyone has heard Rihanna's big hit, "Te Amo"....at least they were playing the video a lot when I was oversees (music television was pretty much the only thing in English...so I watched a decent amount of music videos)...but what you may not know is that the song was written by my buddy James Fauntleroy. I really like his original version, probably even better than Rihanna's.

Tequila Avión
Product placement is nothing new in tv/movies nowadays, but like most casual Entourage viewers, I thought that Turtle's new business interest in Tequila Avión was a purely fictitious company. Turns out it's for real and has been launched in NY and CA. What is kinda cool is that HBO/Entourage supposedly is ad free and doesn't take money for product placement. Any real product is used purely to make the character/scene more realistic. My next thought was that Mark Cuban probably has an interest in the company and approached them with the idea, offering in exchange to appear in a number of episodes. However, from what I've read so far it seems like Cubes has no interest and this is Ellin's creation. Either way, I'm sure this will work out great for Tequila Avion, and I'm not gonna lie...call me a sucker for good advertising, but I'll probably go check it out myself.
Here's an article about how Marquis Jet tycoon Kenny Dichter, who was Ellin's childhood friend launched Avion and got it on Entourage.
An article from Thirsty in LA on the new tequila and its Tasting Notes

So We Just Dance
So we just dance
So we just dance
So we just dance
When we say study, it means work,
When we say work, it means money,
When we say money, it means spending
When we say credit, it means debt,
When we say debt, it means bailiff,
We agree to being in deep sh*t
When we say love, it means kids,
When we say forever, it means divorce.
When we say family, we say grief, because misfortune never comes alone.
When we say crisis, we talk about the wold, famine and then third world.
When we say tiredness, we talk about waking up still deaf from sleepless night
So we just go out to forget all our problems.
So we just dance… (X9)
So you say that it’s over because the only thing worse would be death.
When you finally think you’ll make it, there’s more and more!
Ecstasy means a problem, problems or just music.
It grabs you by the guts, it takes hold of your head and then you pray for it to end.
But your body is no heaven so you block your ears even more.
And then you yell even louder and it goes on…
So we just sing
Lalalalalala, Lalalalalala,
So we just sing
Lalalalalala, Lalalalalala,
So we just sing
So we just sing
And then only when it’s over, then we dance.
So we just dance (x7)
